Matsumoto Castle and Daio Wasabi Farm Tour
This is a full-day tour to Matsumoto City, home of the famous Matsumoto Castle. In Japan there are only four castles that have been designated as "National Treasures" and Matsumoto Castle is one of these. The five-storied donjon is one of the oldest castle structures existing in Japan. Construction of the main donjon began in 1592 when warlords around the country struggled for dominance. Matsumoto Castle is one of the few great castles of the feudal era to survive in its original form.
On the way to Matsumoto we stop at the Daio Wasabi Farm, the largest of its kind in Japan and the perfect place to taste many of the various different wasabi products, one of which is wasabi ice cream! After the guided tour of the Matsumoto Castle, visitors will dine on a delicious Japanese set menu lunch (various Wasabi Farm options available) and are then at their own leisure to explore the many historical sites around the city. Numerous stores and galleries sell fine traditional crafts and local foods of the Shinshu area.
This is a full day tour departing at 815am and arriving back in Hakuba at 5.00pm. Tours leave every Tuesday.
